Tobacco Medicine Practitioner Training Retreat — Portugal
Over the years, we have received many requests for a more formal teacher-training program for practitioners of tobacco medicine. For the second year in a row, we are pleased to offer that opportunity.
We will be holding a week-long intensive training retreat in Portugal, just outside Lisbon, in the beautiful forests and town of Sintra.
Who Is This Retreat For?
This retreat is exclusively open to current practitioners of tobacco medicine, or to those who have completed their apprenticeship with Jason, Merav, Ernesto, or another qualified practitioner.
The week will include:
Daily lectures and practical sessions
Group tobacco ceremonies
Possibly a public clinic day, providing an opportunity to practice with guests
Daily coaching, teaching, and support
Post-dieta integration support and access to our Peer Support monthly virtual meetings
We have also put together a short slideshow outlining the topics and daily routines for the week: Please note this slideshow is from our 2026 retreat. We will have the exact 2027 curriculum up online by October 15th.
The Location
The retreat will take place in the beautiful forest of Sintra at Floresta Encantada, a magical setting with a rich history connected to medicine and spiritual work.

Group Size
We are offering this dieta to a small, intimate group, with the group size most likely limited to 8–10 participants.
Places will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis following acceptance into the program.
Exchange
€1,595 for the week
Housing and meals are NOT included.

Accommodation
Participants have several accommodation options available during the retreat.
Staying in Sintra
There are many lodging options in and around Sintra, ranging from hotels and guesthouses to private apartments and homes.
Staying in Lisbon
You may also choose to stay in Lisbon, where there are many accommodation options. Sintra is approximately a 30-minute Uber ride from Lisbon, depending on traffic. The cost of an Uber is generally around €20 per ride.
On-Site Accommodation at Floresta Encantada
There is also a beautiful hotel/apartment located directly on the Floresta Encantada property.
The accommodation sleeps up to four people in two rooms, with two beds in each room. It is a particularly special option for anyone who would like to stay directly on-site, surrounded by the forest and the peaceful atmosphere of the property.
The accommodation is located in a beautiful old regal home, situated quietly within the forest of Sintra and directly on the Floresta Encantada grounds. It offers a unique opportunity to stay immersed in the setting of the retreat.
The cost is €220 per night.
This accommodation is likely to book quickly and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. It can be booked individually, or it could be a wonderful option for several participants to share the cost and stay together on-site.
